Earlier this month I was asked to take part in a wonderful event here in Pittsburgh. I would be making cakes for a beautiful mother and daughter coming into town for a special celebration.
The first was a bridal shower cake for the gorgeous Courtney Mazza, Pittsburgh native and Broadway alum. The shower was held at LeMont on Mt. Washington over looking our breathtaking city. (I never get tired of the view from up there!) The theme was white, pink, and sparkly. I wanted to create something feminine, elegant, and modern, with tasteful bling. It isn’t too often I look at one of my own cakes and am completely happy, it’s that whole tortured artist thing. LOL However I was pretty tickled pink with that bottom rosette tier.
Courtney is marrying the very lucky Mario Lopez (Extra, Saved by the Bell, Dancing with the Stars, and tons more) this December in Mexico. Hey, guys, really, I’ll travel for the wedding cake! HA!
Mario and Courtney had a reality show, Mario Lopez: Saved by the Baby that followed them as they got ready to welcome their first child. Adorable Gia came into the world in September 2010 and was now ready to celebrate her 2nd birthday in a joint celebration with mom!
Gia’s theme was Minnie Mouse. Love it!! For her cake I wanted something that matched the event of the shower, but still fun and a little frilly, fit for a 2 year old cutie and Minnie herself. Of course had to match the pink and white of mom’s cake to bring it all together.
TV network, TLC, was also on-hand that day filming for the upcoming reality show featuring Courtney and Mario’s big day, and all the lead up to it! It should be aired around mid to late December and with a little luck maybe we’ll get a glimpse of these cakes on our living room screens!
Here are a couple of pics of Courtney and Gia with their cakes and the Faithfully Cakes official portraits, as I like to call them. Be watching for what’s sure to be an amazing wedding special on TLC!!Tweet Share
